SHS Choral Music Director

Allison Taylor

Ms. Taylor is in her 3rd year of teaching. Her first year was at Brogden Middle School in Durham County. She is from Michigan, and moved down to North Carolina in January of 2021 to start her teaching career. Ms. Taylor obtained her Bachelor’s of Music Education from Central Michigan University (CMU) in the fall of 2020. Her passion for music comes from years of singing in various school, community, and church choirs; including (but not limited to) the top choirs in middle and high school, Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Chorus, Michigan All-State Choir, Blue Lake Fine Arts camp, Central Michigan Chamber Choir, singing at Carnegie Hall twice (once with Eric Whitacre as the director), and the North Carolina Master Chorale. Her passion for education comes from a long line of unparalleled music teachers and a love for working with children. Performing has always been a part of Ms. Taylor’s life, and she has starred in such productions as “The Wizard of Oz,” “Once Upon a Mattress,” and “Crazy for You.” She is also the music director the upcoming Sanderson Theatre Ensemble production of “Something Rotten.”
Ms. Taylor has also worked with numerous voice teachers as a soloist, and received the Levi, Mildred, and Rusch Dees Endowment Award in 2019. She also received a vocal scholarship to attend CMU.
Ms. Taylor is ecstatic to be a part of the Spartan family, and looks forward to growing the choral program for years to come.
